It is necessary to go to a Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Craftmanship and Agriculture (C.C.I.A.A.) for:

  • starting, modifying or ending an economic activity;
  • obtaining licence to perform an activity;
  • obtaining financial resources, incentives and facilitations;
  • filing and certifying documents;
  • looking through registers and rolls (among which: register of companies with protested bills of exchange and balance sheets, register of craft companies, register of retailers, register of waste management enterprises);
  • obtaining certificates, visas, lists and certificates for foreign countries (TIR carnets, ATA carnets, statements, visas on invoices, certificates of origin and certificates for food products);
  • paying the annual fixed fee to the chamber;
  • dealing with the protection of consumers’ rights.

The Company Register Office, besides keeping a record of enterprises that can be consulted by anyone, is aimed at:

  • issuing statements and certificates of incorporation related to filed documents;
  • issuing copies of filed or registered documents;
  • providing company accounting books with numbers and stamps;
  • issuing lists of enterprises filed in the registers and rolls kept by the Chamber of Commerce.

Furthermore, several agencies for territorial development operate in the Slovenian cross-border area.

  • The HiCo Region Chambers of Commerce

Besides performing specific functions of issuing licences, certificates, statements and allowing to look through registers, the Chamber of Commerce is also useful for:

  • obtaining economic, legal and statistical information at a local, national and international level;
  • addressing the patents and trade marks office;
  • participating to exhibitions and events;
  • obtaining documents about the free zones (Gorizia, Trieste);
  • obtaining documents about financial resources issued by local institutions (for example: fondo Gorizia);
  • requesting subsidised fuel for agriculture and the single form of environmental statement;
  • requesting arbitrations and conciliations;
  • renting meeting rooms.

The Chamber of Commerce of Gorizia, besides its specific chamber functions, offers a service of orientation to access financing and financial resources issued by local institutions (e.g.: Fondo Gorizia). Orientation is also provided to carry out the procedures necessary to start, modify and end a business, to obtain a licence to run a business and to promote one's business. All the forms to be submitted to the various offices of the Chamber of Commerce of Gorizia as well as several statistical bulletins and economic studies can be downloaded from the website.

Besides its specific functions of issuing licences, certificates, statements and of keeping and presenting registers, the Chamber of Commerce of Udine manages the Punto Nuova Impresa, a system of support and orientation services for entrepreneurs, where it is possible to receive information on what to do to start an autonomous economic activity; on the regional training tools; on how to access contributions, subsidies and financing; on the possibilities reserved to female entrepreneurs.

The Chamber of Commerce of Pordenone, besides its traditional chamber functions, offers economic, legal and statistical information regarding the Italian territory and the European Union; it supplies orientation on the opportunities offered by EU policies, on patents and trade marks, and on participation to exhibitions, missions and business meetings. Moreover, it deals with the protection of consumers’ rights. The Chamber of Commerce of Pordenone is also provided with four separated offices, in Maniago, San Vito, Spilimbergo and Sacile.

In the Goriška region, the Obmocna zbornica za Severno Primorsko, Nova Gorica (Chamber of Commerce for the territory of Northern Primorska) operates.

In the Obalno-Kraška region, the Obmocna zbornica Koper (Chamber of Commerce for the territory of Koper/Capodistria) operates.

Territorial chambers of commerce are the organisational part of the National Chamber of Commerce, Gospodarska zbornica Slovenije, Ljubljana, which, besides activities performed at a national and regional level (through the territorial chambers), also operates through several category associations.

The economic structure of agriculture and craftmanship is organised in separate institutions: the Chamber of Agriculture and Sylviculture and the Chamber of Craftmanship.

In the sectors of agriculture and sylviculture, the economic network is organised by the Chamber of Agriculture and Sylviculture of Slovenija – Kmetijsko gozdarska zbornica Slovenije. In the cross-border area, the Chamber has two local units – Obmocna enota, one located in Nova Gorica and the other in Koper/Capodistria.

Furthermore, out of eight agriculture and sylviculture authorities – Kmetijsko gozdarski zavodi, organised in Slovenia, one is based in Nova Gorica and covers the whole border area.

Services to producers are supplied by various specialized offices, such as the agriculture advisory office, the sylviculture advisory office, the animal breeding office, the fruit centre, the vine-growing centre and the centre for production of olive trees.
