The promotion of international relations in the sectors of research, enhancement and transfer of technology and economic and industrial development, especially with the near European Regions and with the Central-Eastern European countries undergoing economic transition, is an opportunity of economic growth for the HiCo Region. The globalised market, despite being open to new competitive threats, also offers chances of development, partnership creation, identification of new locations hardly achievable in the past. The institutions operating in the HiCo region have proved to care about these aspects, also thanks to the cross-border position of the territory and the enormous potential of the countries undergoing a transition phase.

AREA – Innovation Relay Centre IRC IRENE (Italian Relay Centre North East) is the reference centre for trans-national technology transfer and innovation diffusion of the Emilia-Romagna, Marches, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions.
IRENE, co-financed by the INNOVATION programme of the European Union, is one of the junctions of the European network comprising 71 innovation centres present in 33 countries.
In the IRENE context, AREA operates in the regional territory:
- giving assistance to industry in defining technological needs;
- promoting innovative ideas at an European level and, through the Innovation Relay Centre network, identifying partners able to acquire new technologies;
- favouring the drawing up of trans-national technology transfer agreements;
- supporting research and technological development projects in the context of the EU Research and Innovation programme.
Informest-Service and Documentation Centre for International Cooperation, is a public non-profit organisation created by Law no. 19, dated 9 January 1991. Its institutional aim is offering market operators information, documentation, training, assistance and advisory services on Eastern European Countries (Balkans, Central-Eastern Europe, CIS) and on Central Asia (China, Mongolia, Vietnam). At present, Informest employs over 20 specialists in several competence areas. The enterprise management is made up of people having long experience in their respective sectors and high professional competence. Informest is an extremely qualified and reliable supplier of commercial and financial information on Eastern countries, thanks to its consolidated institutional relations and to its tested network of foreign correspondents.
