The Chair Cluster

The Chair Cluster manufactures 80% of the Italian production of chairs and 50% of the total European production of chairs. It mainly covers three municipalities of the province of Udine, namely Manzano, San Giovanni al Natisone and Corno di Rosazzo, which constitute the area known as “Triangolo della Sedia”.

In only 100 square kilometres, approximately 1,200 companies with 15,000 employees are concentrated. 37% of them produce finished products, 27% produce semi-finished products or components and 26% carry out processing for third parties.

Nowadays, the area has become a vast industrial prototype: important cluster-related competitive factors are linked to economies of scale, which derive from network relations among specialized enterprises, ensured by the district in terms of costs, flexibility and competence diffusion; to a strong drive towards exports, which is a tangible evidence of the district ability to adapt to the market; to a shared-knowledge system, which guarantees competence development and innovative process diffusion.

Promosedia promotes the production of its member companies and of the Chair Industrial District, operating in two main sectors: on one side, it organises the International Chair Exhibition, an exhibition unique in its genre, able to materially attract an enormous number of operators to the Chair Industrial District and to offer them a comprehensive view of chair production.

On the other side, it communicates the image of this reality at international level, representing it at the international trade fairs of the sector and spreading knowledge about it through exhibitions, events and published material. An important part of Promosedia activity is then addressed to its members and to sector entrepreneurs, to whom it dedicates conventions, extension classes and any other instruments for growth and professional exchange, plus an exhibition unique in its genre, able to materially attract an enormous number of operators to the Chair Industrial District and to offer them a comprehensive view of chair production.
