The Maniago Knives Cluster ("Distretto del Coltello") is located in the plains to the North of Pordenone and is made up of 9 municipalities of the province of Pordenone (among which: Maniago, Montereale Valcellina, Fanna, Vajont).

Approximately half the Italian production of knives is manufactured there. 175 handicraft businesses and 25 industrial companies work in this sector, covering most national demand but also exporting great amounts to European and American markets.

The production consists of: kitchen knives, table knives, professional knives, sport knives, pocket multifunction knives; professional scissors and tweezers; bistouries and surgical equipment; palette knives for handicraft use; hatchets, bill hooks and scythes; ancient weapons.

Approximately 1,000 people are employed in the cutlery production only in Maniago, the cluster capital, which guarantees an ever-growing product quality through peculiar technological innovation, use of special steels, high performance materials, numerical control machinery, laser cutting and temperature control in heat treatments.
